Join The Philharmonic!
Bring your instrument, your talent, and your love of music — we provide the stage, the scores, and a community that’s as passionate as you are! Whether you’re a seasoned pro or a lifelong player looking for a new adventure, there’s a seat for you in the PSNJ orchestra.
At PSNJ, every musician plays for the love of music, the thrill of performance, and the connection of a true ensemble. Though we’re a volunteer orchestra, our commitment to excellence is real. Here’s what we seek in our players:
Be part of the ensemble
Musical Skill & Experience
Proficient or advanced on their instrument — many of our musicians are professionals, educators, or hold music degrees.
Preparation & Professionalism
Practice and prepare their parts so rehearsals focus on making music together, not learning notes.
Commit to regular attendance at rehearsals and dress rehearsals.
Spirit & Ensemble Mindset
Ready to work hard, collaborate, and have fun — because while making great music is serious business, enjoying it is mandatory.

Auditions
Our Music Director and select section leaders will personally audition each applicant for a spot in the orchestra. Expect a mix of prepared solos, sight reading, and a chance to sit in with the section during rehearsal so our section leaders can see how you fit in.

Rehearsals
We rehearse weekly on Wednesday evenings, starting promptly at 7:00 p.m. at the Eastern Regional High School Performing Arts Center (1401 Laurel Oak Road, Voorhees, NJ), from early September through late April/early May.
Dress rehearsals happen the Friday before each concert, and occasionally on a Saturday before the concert. We send out the full season schedule every summer, so you can plan ahead and never miss a beat.
